Two portals, two states
Madhya Pradesh gates — Turiya, Karmajhiri, Jamtara, Khawasa, Teliya, Rokhad — are booked through the MP Forest Department portal, forest.mponline.gov.in.
Maharashtra gates — Sillari, Khursapar, Chorbahuli, Khubala — are booked through the Maharashtra Forest Department ecotourism system. You cannot book a Maharashtra gate on the MP portal or vice versa. Confirm your gate's state before attempting to book.
Documents required
Original photo identification is mandatory for every visitor. Indian nationals may present Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN Card or Driving Licence. Foreign nationals must carry a passport. The same ID used at booking must be carried during the safari.
Booking guidance
Core zone permits at Turiya and Sillari fill quickly during peak season — book as early as your chosen portal allows. Buffer zones on the MP side typically retain availability closer to travel dates and offer genuine value.
Safari timings and season
Pench is open from 1 October to 30 June. Core zones close during the monsoon from July to September. Some buffer zones on both sides may remain accessible during monsoon subject to weather.
Two safaris operate daily, with timings shifting seasonally in line with sunrise and sunset. Morning safaris consistently produce better tiger sightings, particularly during summer when animals move at dawn to avoid the heat.

March to June — best for tiger sightings
Vegetation thins dramatically and animals concentrate around the Pench river and remaining waterholes. Gaur herds are particularly impressive. Tiger sighting probability is at its highest. Temperatures often exceed 42°C, but morning safaris remain productive.
October — post-monsoon green
The reserve reopens into spectacular greenery. Sightings are less predictable given abundant water and dense vegetation, but crowds are minimal.
July to September — core closed
